DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES

For all play at LA SERENA a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If during a stipulated round a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.) the player is in breach of rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.

NOTE: ANY SHALLOW INDENTATION no matter the cause, the ball must be played as it lies or deemed unplayable under penalty of 1 stroke.

Interference by GUR in this case only occurs when a ball lies in or touches the condition

If the ball in the HARDPAN AREA meets the criteria above then

(i) The player can play the ball as it lies or take relief without penalty as follows:-

Lift the ball and drop it within one club-length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief. The nearest point of relief must be within the confines of the Hardpan Area.

When the ball is dropped within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, the ball must first strike a part of the Hardpan Area at a spot that avoids interference by the condition.
